The boulder is three kilometers northeast of the town of Themar.
It can be reached on hiking trails from Themar or from the village of Lengfeld.
On the Feldstein mountain near Themar lies a 12 m high basalt rock, known locally and in literature as "Feldstein".
According to the legend, it is still called the "Devil's Stone".
The basalt in the form of five- and six-sided columns is considered a classic example of the pinnacle or pile formation of basalt columns.
