The brook valley of the Puttenbeek extends over the municipalities of Asse, Opwijk and Merchtem. She was excavated by cutting marl. This marl, a kind of lime-humus, was used in the past to make the fields more fertile. In this valley there is an extensive natural reed collar in which numerous reed birds such as Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler and Bluethroat make their nest.
Now it is time to enjoy the peace here.
