In the middle of the Wutzsee, in front of the remains of the Lindow monastery in the Ruppiner Seenland, stands a woman made of granite. Two meters high and weighing almost 1,500 kilos. Your eyes are on the 4,000-strong town of Lindow, not far from Neuruppin. The nun named Amelie is said to have been of extraordinary beauty. The young woman fled because she could no longer endure life behind the monastery walls.
The missing nun from Lindow came from a noble family. Her parents had put her in the Cistercian convent in order to put an end to her love for a poor farmer's son. But Jacob and Amelie couldn't let go of each other. One night the young man heaved his beloved over the monastery wall. Both disappeared without a trace. It is unknown whether she drowned in the lake or escaped to a happy future. A stroll through the former monastery complex is reason enough for a trip to the north of Brandenburg.

On the banks of the Wutzsee, in front of the remains of the Lindow monastery, stands the beautiful granite nun. A very popular photo motif

The nun is not that beautiful, but the view over the Wutzsee is always worthwhile.
