Surrounded by the Beaufortain and Mont-Blanc massifs, les Chapieux is a pretty little hamlet, very picturesque. You can find goat cheese made on site at the village goat farm, as well as many local products. The village also has a free camping area and an inn. A very nice little stop before continuing your hike.

In Les Chapieux there is a small village with a few bars/restaurants and a couple of places to stop for the night. If you go on the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) this is an ideal stop.

There is a free camping area (voluntary donation) at the Tourist Office. There are 24-hour toilets, but no showers. The guesthouse "Auberge Refuge Nova" offers showers for 5 euros.

There is a small shop with local food: cheese bread cold cuts and beer, and a small takeaway pizzeria.

The valley is pleasant to the eye, but not exceptional. Shepherd dogs can be noisy at night.
