The bridge over the waterfall spans the Old Elbe in Magdeburg and connects the eastern district of Cracau with the western Rotehornpark, which lies on the Elbe island of Grosser Werder. The building stands above the Cracauer weir, which is also called Cracauer waterfall. The Cracauer waterfall is a raiding weir in the Elbe Elbe in Magdeburg district Cracau.In order to supply enough water to the Stromelbe even at low tide, but still to divert the water during floods, the city of Magdeburg had already built a barrage called Grahl in the eastern Elbarm around 1806.
