It consists of a Romanesque nave, which was remodeled in the Baroque style in 1728, a late Gothic west tower, and a recessed, early Gothic choir.
In the 12th century, it served as the private church of the Lords of Schleunz.
It forms part of a complex that includes the charnel house and the cemetery, which fills the entire churchyard.
