On the edge of an idyllic pond and surrounded by a deep moat, the massive castle walls rise up, one of the last remaining moated castles in the Waldviertel region. It represents one of the most romantic spots in the Manhartsberg area. First mentioned in the 11th century, it was the ancestral seat of the Schleunz family, from whose name the name "Burgschleinitz" evolved over time. Throughout its history, the castle changed hands repeatedly. The exact date of its conversion from Burgschleinitz Castle to a palace is unknown.
