Porta dei Cappuccini is one of the eight gates in the walls of the historic fortified city of Assisi. It's square tower has an interior staircase and a slightly collapsed top. A niche with a statue of the Madonna decorates an interior side of the tower. This gate provides the easiest access with hiking trails and a parallel road to the Eremo delle Carceri abbey and to the summit of Monte Subasio. A sign celebrates San Francisco California and San Francisco Assisi as sister cities.

If the visitor to Assisi not only wants to visit the well-known destinations in the city center, but also the climb to the "Eremo delle Carceri" - a hermitage to which Saint Francis often retreated to worship God in the solitude of the mountains pray (see komoot.de/highlight/307775 ) - if you do, you leave the city through this city gate and climb Monte Subasio.
