Tips
The barren landscape in the middle of the otherwise green surroundings looks a bit surreal, but is a valuable habitat for rare plants and insects (heat specialists). You can see the area from the path to the castle, but you can also hike through it.

On the south side of the Wanderslebener Gleiche there are large, largely vegetation-free slopes. These are the so-called badlands. There are some beautiful S0 to S1 trails here.
