The Borgwedel Brickworks Nature Experience Area is a former brickworks site directly on the Schlei. The clay deposits from the Ice Age and the favorable traffic situation on the Schlei were good conditions for a brickworks. Around four million bricks from Borgwedel were transported on sailing ships and later steamships to Schleswig, Eckernförde, Kiel-Friedrichsort, England and the Baltic region. The nature experience area is accessible all year round.
