The brick church of Løgumgårde was built at the end of the 12th century, and is therefore older than the monastery church in Løgumkloster. The rather large church in Romanesque style was possibly built by the first Cistercian monks in Løgum Monastery.
Archaeological excavations at the church indicate a Viking village and a large courtyard from the 12th century.
