Wonderful circular route... reminded me for a moment of the old king in the Taunus with the white wall

The Schafstein (831 m) has been a nature reserve since 1930 and is now the core zone of the Rhön biosphere reserve. The national geotope has the largest basalt block field in the Rhön. This impressive natural wonder can only be reached on foot. The views of Wüstensachsen and Reulbach with the Milseburg in the background are simply fascinating. Narrow paths lead on the circular route through an enchanting forest, some of whose beeches are over 150 years old.

Beautiful views of the hills surrounding the Schafstein and the impressive basalt fields. The very old trees (see description on site) are impressive.
