Nice insider tip for whom the island is too crowded. The view of the lake, island and mountains is fantastic.

In Tuscany Park you can relax and relax wonderfully and has a wonderful Böick on the adjacent Lake Constance. It is located directly behind the buildings of the city administration.

A little corner of Lindau away from the hustle and bustle of the island, with bathing and sunbathing lawns, shady spots, old villas, as a building authority today, and a view of the mountains

Beautifully laid out. There are also some benches from which you can enjoy the view of the lake and the mountains. A great view of the lake, especially at sunset.

                        Tuscany Park
A touch of Italy at Lake Constance
He certainly did not come entirely voluntarily: the Tuscan Grand Duke Ferdinand IV settled on Lake Constance in the mid-19th century after feeling forced to go into exile. The reason: the rule of the Habsburgs over the Grand Duchy of Tuscany ended with the Italian national movement in 1860. Nominally, Ferdinand had still become Grand Duke of the region. However, he soon abdicated, probably also due to financial issues, in order to retire to Lake Constance.

Where the nobility succeeded the high nobility

In 1862 he acquired the land on which the Tuscany Park is located today and later also had the shore area filled up - and a wall with two bastions and stairs to the lake built. We know why he had to leave Tuscany. But why exactly to Lindau? Last but not least, his half-sister Auguste Ferdinande of Austria, who had recently acquired land in Lindau and had the Villa Amsee [Link?] built there, may have inspired him.

Auguste was not only older than him and a role model, but also the wife of Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria and thus part of the Bavarian royal family. Her retreat on Lake Constance quickly became a popular meeting place for the European court nobility. Ferdinand must have liked that.

The Tuscan Grand Duke was forced to relocate in the mid-19th century, not entirely voluntarily. He acquired the land in 1862. The city of Lindau acquired it in 1926. The park is open to all.
