Penguin Colony Sculpture Group (Innere Klosterstraße, Chemnitz)

The penguin colony has been in the Innere Klosterstrasse since 2004. The group consists of 14 bronze emperor penguins. The outlines of Antarctica and the city of Chemnitz can be seen on the floor.

Emperor penguins have settled at the exit of Chemnitz's Inner Klosterstraße since November 2004 and have even had offspring.The work of art by Peter Kallfels points the way to the south and is named after the degree of longitude that connects the inner monastery road with Antarctica: "12 degrees 55 minutes 11 seconds east longitude".
