The Küchwald stage is located next to the large meadow near the park railway in the Küchwald. Planned in the 1950s by the architect Roland Hühnerfürst, the Küchwald stage was built by the citizens themselves - without a backstage for cost reasons. In the summer of 1963, the Küchwald stage was opened for the Workers' Festival. It offered 4,500 seats for cinema, concerts and theater performances. After the Küchwaldbühne was closed in 1991 due to structural defects, the "Association for the Promotion of the Küchwaldbühne e.V." was founded 18 years later in 2009. This association took on the listed complex and was able to give the Küchwaldbühne a new lease of life in 2010 with the play "MOMO" based on the novel by Michael Ende. The association's theater group, which already had 50 actors in 2010, already had 130 active members in 2011.For several years now, a large number of its own plays have been performed in the summer months, as well as guest performances by the Chemnitz Municipal Theater and other organizers.

In the old days, we were here at least once a week as children and teenagers.
Unfortunately, there are no longer any events here that interest me and the rest of us.
When we were children, cinema and film screenings started here.
A bastion without any use
