The edge of the forest between Waake and Mackenrode has several good vantage points. At this point, the view stretches from the Hengstberg on the right over Mackenrode and the Langenberg region to the Ohm Mountains and the Eichsfelder Tor. To the left of this, the Harz Mountains can be seen.
