Lausanne is the capital of the Olympic Movement - the only city that can claim this title. This is not a show off, but simply corresponds to reality. There is only one capital of the Olympic Movement, just as Paris, London or Berlin are the only capital cities in their respective countries. When Juan Antonio Samaranch offered this title to the city of Lausanne in 1994, he did so because he believed that the Olympic Movement needed a clear territorial expression in order to embody the values it represented universally - a place that everyone considered ideal platform for these values is considered. And so he decided on Lausanne.
