The weather forecast for Central Switzerland was only slightly better than for Eastern Switzerland.



Nevertheless, I decided to travel to Central Switzerland and do a winter hike up the Rigi.



And the weather was actually much better than expected. Initially overcast with light snowfall, it became increasingly

Perfect weather and excellent snow conditions on almost the entire route; perhaps a bit icy on the last 200 meters of elevation gain, but fine powder above 1400 meters.



Took the chairlift up to the Säntis. From the Gasthaus Alter Säntis, a descent of just under 1000 meters to Meglisalp. We chose the variant

Today I finally managed to do another leg of my journey in western Switzerland – and Pedro came along.



The weather wasn't as good as predicted. We only saw the promised sun for the first fifteen minutes and the last hour and a half. Otherwise, it was mostly foggy, with temperatures generally between 5

Another great winter bike ride today after work. Pit and I were there again.



From Gommiswald via Rieden up to Tanzboden.



Except for a few short sections (no more than 200m in total), it was all rideable. We only had to push for maybe 5 minutes in total.

On the way back, we made a short detour to Vorderw

Our very first winter biking experience on the Wolzenalp!



And it exceeded all our expectations.



We reached the Wolzenalp via the mostly snow-free main road.



At the top of the Wolzenalp, we enjoyed a short but very scenic loop along the groomed winter hiking trail around the high moor.



The highlight, however

Weather-wise, this was a very special ride.



We started in Buchs with a fairly strong foehn wind and a temperature of around 15°C.



Just under two hours later, shortly before Rüthi, the temperature changed abruptly within 50 meters, from a warm tailwind to a cold headwind, dropping by 10°C in just 2 minutes

From the shop, we went with the boys up to Wolzenalp to cook over a fire.



A breathtaking view up there. A winter wonderland at its finest.

The winter biking season started today not directly at Tannenbodenalp, but down in Flums near the train station.



I wasn't quite sure what the conditions would be like up there today, so I started in the valley to do a loop on the snow before and after (or instead of, if that wasn't possible) biking.

Instead of winter biking in Flumserberg today, I'm having an alpine skiing day at Chäserrugg...



Off-piste (and on the closed touring runs), there was quite a bit of powder again yesterday with the snowfall. Not a huge amount (which is probably why they're still closed), but enough if you're careful.

Today was a cross-country skiing experience of a special kind. All dressed and ready, I realized: my classic cross-country skis were still in Birgit's car parked outside. Birgit, however, has been in Aarau since yesterday and has both keys with her.



So, plan B it was: onto the track with Leon's skating
