Friedrichstadt was founded in 1621 to establish a trading metropolis here. This introduced freedom of religion and was thus very advanced ever - the place was even considered a "city of tolerance". In particular, Dutchmen settled down, which is absolutely unmistakable when you roll through the streets with their canals and stone houses. That's why Friedrichstadt is also known as the "Dutch city". Basically, the whole city is a sight, so it really worthwhile to look around here in peace. There are plenty of places to stay, and the city is also connected to the regional railway network.

Friedrichstadt is a beautiful place with old town charm. Some bridges like the Blue Bridge on the Westersielzug. The market square with its traditional water pump and the associated blue roof is a highlight. The houses on the market square are historical and beautiful to look at. The market square is equipped with old paving stones and the streets of the old town around the market invite you to stroll a little.
