The ruin Rotenhan is a real rarity. It is one of the 100 most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria. Once the castle dominated the important road between Bamberg and Fulda. The medieval fortification was carved out of the rock in the 12th century, until 1323 it was intact. Absolutely impressive!

Very nice hike with mostly easy to walk paths. At first it is quite steep but then mostly flat. We only had some difficulties with forest work. A piece we had through the undergrowth because the trees were across the way.

A beautiful place, mystical atmosphere. The ruin is not large, but it is particularly romantic.

Looks like an ingenious film set, only with the difference that this location is REAL and a HIGHLIGHT of superlatives for young and old.
