The B317 coming from the Wiesental is mostly busy. During the week from many trucks and at the weekend there are many tourists and motorcyclists on the road. The best time to conquer the Feldberg is probably around noon in Corona times. you don't have to share the road with the least of them. The asphalt is very good in most places. The driveway has two lanes in places and in the last upper section there is a very wide parking lane that you can drive on.

Road cycling

Of course you should have been to the Feldberg with your racing bike. The B317 is not really a really nice experience by bike. Mostly plagued by a lot of traffic, very broad and rather unattractive in the upper area, partly dredged into the slope with three lanes. Not exactly what you would call a dream road with a racing bike. If possible, drive at low-traffic times, e.g. avoid early mornings during the week on weekends. As a descent, however, quite fun, given the wide sweeping curves, you can fly down to the valley largely without using the brakes.
