The Wing, War Memorial. Next to the Irish Guardsbrug Elst, also known as the bicycle bridge of the RijnWaalpad over the Linge, there is a monument. “De Vleugel” is a war memorial in the form of a seven-meter-high steel airplane wing and is a reminder of the intensive flight movements and war actions in the Nijmegen, Overbetuwe and Arnhem region. These areas are also called “the Normandy of the Netherlands”. The monument was unveiled on March 14, 2014.
