Swamp herders, Dijanne van Engelen. At the Kampsestraat in Elst, there are eight to eleven meter high “Swamp Herders” by artist Dijanne van Engelen. There were three of them, one collapsed. She was inspired by the area before you. In front of you you can see the large swamp that was created in Het Waterrijk. Van Engelen thought it was important to create something that animals and humans feel comfortable with. The wooden statues "watch" over the area. It should be a place where animals feel at home and where people can gaze and learn about nature.
