Hiking

A medieval fountain rubbed 7 meters through the rock. An origin before AD 1000 is conceivable. It served to supply the nearby Eichelberg Castle, which was first mentioned in 1213 and was probably destroyed in the middle of the 14th century. It was rebuilt elsewhere as a moat castle (remnants of which form today's Eichelbacher Hof). In the last century, the well was partly used by farmers to dispose of cattle remains before it was forgotten. It was rediscovered by Hasselbach citizens and excavated in 1995/96.

Hiking

Very nice historical site, quite difficult to find in some periods during the year as the entrance is often covered by vegetation. Fortunately a sign indicates the way and a rustic banner tells us a bit of its history. For security reasons it is covered with a metal net that does not prevent you from observing it in detail. Similar rocks to the ones that the well is constructed with can be observed in the surroundings, indicated the possible presence of other medieval vestiges.
