Kemeri Hotel was one of the biggest new construction projects in Latvia in the 1920s and 1930s. The first stone of the building, which has been compared to a white castle or a ship, was laid on 18 October 1933, its opening took place on 28 May 1936.

The building was designed by the most famous architect in Latvia in the first half of the 20th century Eižens Laube (1880-1967). Ķemeri Hotel is a splendid example of neo-eclectic architecture, a national monument of architecture
The newly built hotel was the most modern building of its kind in the Baltic states. The 1st floor held recreation and representation rooms, the 2nd floor-7 luxury two room apartments. 107 one room accommodations were located on the 3rd and 4th floor. On the 5th floor of the hotel was a café with a terrace and a dance hall and rooms for sunbathing. Stairs from the terrace led to the 33 metres high observation tower with a raised flag of Latvia.
The Hotel had been closed since 1995.
