The Main Front is an enclosed 'island' on which fortress buildings stand. In principle, the island can only be reached via one (sometimes two) bridges.

Artillery was set up on the main front to fire at the fort moat.

A walking path takes you through a patch of covered defenses at the back of this fine example of military architecture. The main front is unfortunately not accessible.
