Please check local regulations for: Die Reit
In the "Die Hohe" area at the confluence of the Gose and Dove-Elbe rivers in Reitbrook, there has been an 18 meter high wind-powered water pump since 2004, with which the water level in the ponds and small bodies of water is kept constantly high. As a replacement for two smaller wind pumps, it stabilizes and enlarges the habitat for amphibians, aquatic plants and birds in the shallow water zones.
Two smaller wind pumps ensured that the water level in the ponds and small bodies of water in this area was maintained in the last 20 years before 2004. In the end, however, there was a lot of downtime due to repairs, and ultimately the pumps failed completely, so that there was not enough water available in the shallow water zones for the amphibian spawn to develop.
Therefore “Die Hohe” got a new “high” water pump. With its 18 meters height and the much longer wings, it can pump a much larger amount of water - even at low wind speeds.hamburg.de/die-hohe-windpumpe

A beautiful gravel path between the Gose Elbe and the windmill, but it can get busy with walkers and stationary fishermen, so take care when rounding those corners with too much speed

This 18 m high wind turbine is used to regulate the water levels in the surrounding waters
