The mill near Mückeln became known through the gruesome murder in 1796.

The notorious Moselle gang under Hans Bast Nicolai murdered the Crones miller family in the night. Only one son survived, seriously injured.
This was preceded by a dispute between the miller Crones and the leader of the Moselle gang over a debt that Nicolai owed the miller. Despite this terrible act, the mill was still operated by the rest of the miller's family for a while.
Today the mill is privately owned and beautifully restored (kulturdb.de/einobjekt.php?id=7782)
