The first written mention of a church building in Pappendorf is a "Laurentius chapel" from 1356. Unfortunately, no further information is available. The first church was consecrated in 1424 by the Meißen auxiliary bishop Nikolaus.
He consecrated it in the names of Saints Wenceslaus and Siegismund, which is why it is now called "St. Wenceslas Church”.
In 1772, the dilapidated tower hood with a gable roof was replaced by the structure that still exists today and was based on the Saxon Baroque style.
