The popular Erzherzog-Johann-Klause got a bit old. In the meantime, it was even completely closed because the equipment no longer met the current requirements. Meanwhile, the rustic restaurant on the Brandenberger Ache re-opened and provides mountain bikers and hikers again with drinks and snacks. Overnight stays as before are currently not possible.

    Opening hours:
July, August: throughout 10 am to 7 pm
May, June, September, October: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am to 5 pm

Far off the beaten track, but a worthwhile destination for that very reason. MTB route 22 leads from Kreuth, Rottach-Egern or Schliersee through the Langenau valley and above the Valepptal or the Brandenberger Ache to the Erzherzog-Johann-Klause.

The Klause zur Holztrift, named after Johann of Austria, was built in 1833 as a replacement for the Kaiserklause further north using wooden buttress construction. In 1934/1935 it was reinforced using reinforced concrete pillars. After wooden parts had to be replaced again, it was expanded in 1952/1953 to a dam height of 14 meters. It was taken out of service in 1966. Its functionality is documented in an exhibition room in the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum.
