The ascent to the Coburger Hütte is definitely worthwhile, if only because of the wonderful view of the crystal-clear Drachensee.

Base for climbing the Ellmauer Halt over the Gamsängersteig or for the transition to the Scharlinger soils over the Rote Rinnscharte. With sufficient snow coverage, you can also climb directly to the Red Rinnscharte (bypassing the Gamsängersteiges).

Very nice and cozy hut. Very nice service and very good food. In the summer months you should book the night before. The hut is very well visited.

Although the hut has been around for 100 years, it has been repeatedly renovated. The menu is good and the schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn are highly recommended!
