Huge, ancient tree trunk that impresses due to its size. Looks quite complete from the front, but is already completely rotted on the back. A memorial stone next to it is intended to elucidate the more detailed background, but is no longer legible due to the weather.

The crown oak was about 600 years old. At almost 40 meters, it is said to have been the largest oak in Schleswig Holstein.

The crown oak stood in the Kellenhuserner forest in Schleswig-Holstein. It was roughly 600 years old and felled by a storm in 2002. The crown oak is included in the list of natural monuments of the Ostholstein district. The crown oak takes its name from the Low German Kron for crow or crane. Presumably the oak used to serve as a resting tree for this bird. With a height of 38 meters, it was the largest oak in Schleswig-Holstein. She wore leaves for the last time in 1987, when she was about 600 years old. Rescue attempts in previous years had not helped to keep the mighty oak alive. A measurement of the trunk circumference in 1997 showed about 9 meters. In 2002 a storm was her undoing.
