Very interesting tour. You get to see and read a lot about flora and fauna. Particularly interesting is the history of peat extraction here.

The Wasenmoos, a marshland on the Pass Thurn, is a natural gem of a class. Since the Wasenmoos meets all criteria "wetlands of international importance", it has even been awarded the RAMSAR predicate. This title stands for the fact that a natural jewel can be protected on the one hand and made public at the same time for visitors, making it one of the most important agreements for the protection of habitats. Wood chip paths lead visitors past fascinating mosaic landscapes, discovering an enormous variety of animals and plants. Through various measures, such as the rewet, the original character of the moss landscape was restored.

The high moor landscape of Wasenmoos lies in front of the magnificent backdrop of the Hohe Tauern at an altitude of between 1,200 and 1,500 meters. Embedded in the Salzburg Slate Alps, there are various types of moor here, which form the habitat for a large variety of animal and plant species. Blueberry-spruce forests and broken alder forests are also at home in the 180-hectare area.
