The polar bear is the second largest land carnivore. He is an excellent swimmer and diver. On land, it can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h. Due to global warming, the polar bear is threatened with extinction because it cannot capture enough seals in the melting pack ice.The bright file is not only used for camouflage in the pack ice, but is also a heat trap. The transparent hairs are hollow and transmit light. They supply the black skin with thermal radiation. In addition, the polar bear has a thick layer of fat. It can even withstand temperatures below -50 C undamaged.tiergarten.nuernberg.de/discover/tiere-a-z/tier/eisbaer.html
