Laas in South Tyrol is also known as the "marble village". Close to the village, the "white gold" is mined and in the twelfth century, the parish church was built, which today still shines in white marble and is the highlight of the small four thousand souls community near Schlanders. Besides the marble, Laas is known for its agricultural products. Both are celebrated once a year with the "Marble and apricots" feast.
