Leutesdorf is the largest wine-growing community on the lower Middle Rhine. A beautiful wine village that was first mentioned in a document in 868. You can find beautiful, old half-timbered houses everywhere.
There are many cycling and hiking trails, mostly through the vineyards.
The August Bungert-Allee (= Rhine promenade) is lined with plane trees. Definitely worth a visit!

"... In 868, King Ludwig the German donated the manorial farm in Leutesdorf to the Princely Abbey of Herford in Westphalia. This is the first documented mention of Leutesdorf.
In his travelogue "De navigio suo" from Metz to Andernach, Venantius Fortunatus describes the vineyards of Leutesdorf in 565 AD. This is the first historical evidence of the existence of winegrowing in the town.
Winegrowing reached its greatest extent in terms of area between the 11th and 15th centuries. In the 12th century, the Abbey of Maria Laach, Our Lady of Himmerod, the Cistercian Abbey near Hachenburg /Ww. and the women's monastery of St. Thomas in Andernach called vineyards in Leutesdorf "their own."
In 1427, after the Hammerstein burgraves died out, their rule was united with Leutesdorf to form an Electorate of Trier office. In 1597, Leutesdorf was a member of the Linz Union, an alliance of towns on the Middle Rhine for mutual aid in times of war.
During the Thirty Years' War, the customs office, the architectural remnant of which is the customs gate, came to Leutesdorf.
In 1803, the Duke of Nassau-Usingen came into possession of Leutesdorf. By the time he was replaced by Prussia in 1815, he had squandered Leutesdorf's secularized church property. After that, Leutesdorf belonged to the Prussian Rhine Province until the state of Rhineland-Palatinate took over. ..."

Small dreamy town with the unique hiker's hut on top of the mountain.
