Tips

  • The first documentary mention of the parish of Ohlendorf can be found in the document of Bishop Bernhard von Hildesheim from 1147. The church at that time was part of a fortification.
In the 14th century, the Gandersheim women's monastery gave the church an altar plate made of Lutterschem sandstone. In 1382 a richly decorated pulpit was donated to the church, of which only the foundation plaque is preserved, which is now under the gallery.
Due to the turmoil of the Thirty Years War, a new building was urgently needed, which was completed in 1871. The builder Professor C.W. Haase, who also built the Marienburg near Nordstemmen, had the church built in the neo-Gothic style. The large window areas typical of this architectural style give the church space light and space.
The church belongs to the evangelical parishes Flöthe & Flachstöckheim.
