Here, at the foot of the Köppelmannsberg, the Vöppstedter spring rises, also popularly known as the Plünnecken fountain. The spring water flows to the Warne together with drainage water in the direction of the Lange Wanne.
At the end of the century before last, there was a small filling station next to the spring. The bottled spring water was sold as a sour fountain with the melodious name “Imperial fountain” to the North German Lioyd (German shipping company), who sold it on their ships. This is how the name of the salt bath Salzgitter, which was previously quite unknown, was carried to all parts of the world.
In 1977 the spring was re-framed or converted into a treading pool.

a beautifully designed fountain in which you can tread water in the Kneipp style. Dogs have also been thought of next door; they have a separate pool. Outside the fountain there is also a foot adventure path with different surfaces. A visit to the beautiful surroundings is worthwhile.
