The 2 trees next to the St. Willibald chapel are summer linden trees and should be as old as the chapel, i.e. about 300 years and a circumference of almost 9m. monumentaltrees.com/de/deu/bayern/neumarkt/20601_kapellestwillibald

At the beginning of the history of the Freiberg Chapel there is a vow to go on a pilgrimage to Altötting, which a Ballertshofener butcher made during the Thirty Years' War. From there he brought a statue of the Virgin Mary with him, which he set up in a small field chapel. This chapel was the victim of a lightning strike, which the statue of the Virgin survived. In 1712 a new and larger chapel was built by the forester Adam Kandier, who lived in Deinschwang Castle. The statue of the Virgin Mary was placed here again. In 1818 the church received permission to celebrate. In 1920 the church was badly ravaged by a burglary. Another break-in took place in 1981. In both cases the "Madonna" had also been stolen and both times she came back.
