Altenburg State Theater

The writer Ingo Schulze worked as a dramaturge at the Landestheater at the time of the “Wende”; in his novel "Simple Stories" (1998) he tells in a painfully laconic tone how he experienced this time in Altenburg.

The TPT Theater & Philharmonie Thuringia emerged from the fusion of the Landestheater Altenburg with the stages of the city of Gera in 1995. TPT offers a range of operas, drama, musicals and operettas, puppet shows for young and old, experimental productions, sophisticated dance productions by the largest Thuringian ballet ensemble.
