a beautiful place on the Neckar

The state-approved resort is located on both sides of the Neckar directly on Burgenstrasse. It consists of the districts Neckargerach and Guttenbach. It was originally named after the village stream.
The landmark of Neckargerach is the Minneburg. Opposite Neckargerach, the Minneburg rises on a wooded mountain slope in the Neckarkatzenbach community forest above the Guttenbach district. It is considered the landmark of Neckargerach. It owes its current shape mainly to the expansion in the first half of the 16th century. Today it is a mighty ruin and a popular excursion destination, especially since it offers a beautiful view of the Neckar valley and there are two barbecue areas near the facility, which invite you to linger for a longer hike on the Neckarsteig.
There is a special flora to discover in the Margaretenschlucht. The Flursbach rushes through the gorge from the plateau down to the Neckar. With the collapse of the Rhine Rift about three million years ago, the red sandstone shield of the Odenwald, in which the Neckar has dug, rose. The side streams "got stuck" at the top. In the uppermost layer, the red, they formed a high valley, while in the sandstone slab below they formed deep gorges and blades that were washed out by the floods. The Margarethenschlucht is a particularly interesting example of these gorges, and it also has an interesting flora. It has been a nature reserve since 1940. The Neckarsteig leads through the gorge. The path is very steep with high steps and sometimes very slippery in wet weather. So be careful!

It's very quiet and idyllic here. You can also start tours here and come back by train.
