Hiking Highlight (Segment)
On the Fuldaer Höhenweg you have great views to the mountains, the Taschachtal and the glacier. The path is a light trail but can not be ridden by bike. The highest point is 2650 m.The Fulda High Trail connects the Opens external link in new windowRiffelseehütte (2,289 m) with the Taschachhaus (2,434 m) and is supervised by our section. It leads high above the Taschachtal in a southerly direction above the tree line in a length of about eleven kilometers along the sunny slopes of the pit ridge and the ice box head. The height differences are only small. Mostly you go on a well-trodden path over grassy slopes that are a bit rocky from time to time. You pass two ice chest streams and in the last third you reach Schrofen and Felsgelände. Due to a rockfall there is no longer the somewhat exposed chain passage. The path now leads over a short secured steep section to the right on the so-called Panoramaweg of the hut.
On the second part of the mountain trail, the glaciated mountains of the Ötztal are becoming increasingly impressive - including Brochkogel and Wildspitze. It is recommended to start from the Riffelseehütte, which can be reached either by cable car or on foot (1.5 hours). The ascent of the Fuldaer Höhenweg to the Taschachhaus takes about 3.5 hours. The way back leads through the moraine slopes of the Taschachferner with an enthralling view in its ice breaks to the valley station of the material cable car. From here you can reach either with a bike to borrow (registration in the Taschachhaus) or on foot on a track back to Mandarfen. Descent on foot for a total of about 2.5 hours.
