Very nice and cozy hut. Very nice service and very good food. In the summer months you should book the night before. The hut is very well visited.

Very nice and rustic hut ... very good food, and dogs are also supplied with water immediately. Whether as overnight guest or transient, all are equally well taken care of and treated :-)
Gigantic view from up here - just fantastic ...

This tour offers a great view of the beautiful Pitztal. It is a tour where you get to know your limits. The 2759m are quickly underestimated by some hikers. The way up is really tough.

The hut was built in 1892 and expanded in 1932 and 1965. A general structural renovation took place from 2010 to 2012, and a seminar room was also set up.

Our first glacier crossing and one of the most beautiful tours we have ever done.
The fact that the glaciers, even if they appear harmless, are not without danger is shown by the fact that we were on vacation in the Pitztal. We experienced the search flights and searchers live because we lived right across from the mountain rescue service. Not nice to see the disappointed faces when they have returned from an unsuccessful search. So watch out in the mountains!

Excerpt from the report

A 69-year-old German citizen has been missing in Pitztal since August 17, 2019. On August 17, 2019 at 11:25 a.m., the man took the Gletscherexpress to the mountain station on the Pitztal Glacier unaccompanied and got off there. He then intended to walk from the mountain station to the Braunschweiger Hütte to meet his wife there. However, the man never arrived at the agreed meeting point.
The missing person was last seen around noon on August 17th, 2019 in the area of the mountain station, a large-scale search operation has so far been unsuccessful.

Updated August 29th
In a renewed search operation on Thursday, the missing person was found dead around 12.20 p.m. in the area of an edge cleft, about 80 meters below the marked glacier path to the Braunschweigerhütte.
The German may have hiked above the Randkluft and fell fatally. The body was recovered by the mountain rescue service and the alpine police and transported away with the police helicopter.
