Grub was first mentioned in a document from the Ebersberg monastery in 1015. After numerous changes of ownership, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs bought the Gruber Gut in 1918 in order to improve the productivity of Bavarian animal breeding with breeding and research.

The "Large Bovine Skull", an art sculpture by Dr. Fritz Koenig from 1989. After the artist died in 2017, the sculpture adorned an honorary exhibition in Florence for several months, which was visited by over a million people. Since 2019 it has been back in its original place.
