It is noteworthy that the above church is the oldest surviving Protestant church in the area of the city and district of Munich. It was built in 1837, making it twelve years older than St. Paulus Church in Perlach. The Matthäus-Kirche near the Sendlinger Tor, which was four years older, was demolished in 1938 and only rebuilt in its present form in 1957.
