The Laços de Amizade Bridge (Valentine's Bridge), also known as the Bridge of Ribbons or Bridge of Ties, is located in Cais do Coj in Aveiro, the city known as the Venice of Portugal. This bridge crosses the Canal do Cojo, one of the many canals of the Ria de Aveiro, which connects the Forum Aveiro shopping center with the Manuel Firmino market square.
On this bridge it is possible to put the so-called bonds of friendship and gained this popular designation due to the informal initiative of two students from the University of Aveiro, who in 2004 began to hang ties on the bars of the wooden bridge as a symbol of love or friendship.
It was known as the Bridge of Padlocks because once padlocks were hung instead of ribbons, a practice that was abandoned so as not to damage the bridge.
