Budweis (České Budějovice) is the capital of the South Bohemian Region in the south of the Czech Republic. The imposing Přemysl Otakar II Square is surrounded by arcaded houses; here are the baroque Samson fountain and the town hall with its 3 turrets. The Black Tower, built in Gothic-Renaissance style, offers views over the old town and to Mount Klet' to the south-west. The nearby St. Nicholas Church has been rebuilt many times and has Baroque chapels and 3 naves
