This segment, called the 'Westfriese Zeedijk', is part of the 'Westfriese Omringdijk' and originates from the 12th century. It was made to keep the sea out, and is now a provincial monument. With that in mind, cycling atop of it is very special! The segment is best cycled during before sunset on a weekday, since it'll be quiet and in beautiful lighting conditions. A treat to ride!
