The "Giazzéra" ("Nevera" in Sottoceneri), used until the 1960s and restored in 2002, was used to store food, in this case meat. One has also been preserved in Malvaglia and there are still others in some private houses.

It consists of an anteroom pantry and a cylindrical pit: this was filled with snow in winter, which was then wetted with water so that the ice formed. Cold air blew from a crevice. The cooling effect lasted until the end of summer. In the off-season the ice cellar was used as a sausage cellar. The lever press from Dongio (Predacài), from 1789, is a cultural asset of cantonal importance. Along the road you come across another group of grottos.
