The Gebackene-Birn-Straße is an old trade route that was built in the 16th century and led from Pirna to Tetschen. The idiosyncratic name can be interpreted as follows: "Gebackene" from "gepackte", ie from Packlager and "pirn" from the Sorbian word "pern" (stone). In German you can say packed stone road. Another interpretation speaks of a built (solidified) Pirnaische Strasse.
